Two Great Nights Supporting the Emerald Warriors
The contact season may be over, but the Warriors never rest! We’re working hard to support the club, and that includes raising funds for everything from pitch rentals to our high-calibre coaching staff.
The Emerald Warriors hosted two successful fundraisers this spring, with our Quiz Night at The George on 20 May, and our Comedy Night at Little Whelan’s on 10 June. These events were a rousing success, together raising more than €5,000 for the club.
Quiz Night Draws a Crowd at The George
Firstly, we had a quiz night generously hosted by our long-time supporter, The George. More than 120 people showed up for the battle of wits, packing out the venue with the Warriors and their brainiest friends.
What followed was a clash of rugby’s greatest intellects, battling it out for a voucher from Sallynoggin Saunas. The quiz ended in a nail-biting tie, broken by the team who was first to bring a scrunchie to the stage.
We raised approximately €3,350 on the night, a fantastic result thanks to the great turnout and generous purchase of raffle tickets.
A big thank you to The George for hosting, Hollie Kavanagh and Fiona Larmon for presenting and Richie Whyte for running the slide deck and scoring.

Plenty of Laughs at Little Whelan’s
Next were a few laughs at Little Whelan’s on 10 June. Nine amateur comedians (including our very own VP Maz Peltret!) took to the stage for our Comedy Night fundraiser, hosted by the hilarious Louisa Ní Éideáin. With a wide range of material and performers from every walk of life, there was a joke for everyone.
Some comedians even tailored their set to our rugby-loving audience, with only a couple of jokes at the expense of our long-suffering hookers. Multiple performers commented on what an enthusiastic and supportive audience the Warriors made, so thank you for bringing the energy we are known for!

A New Fundraising Success
Here’s what Maz had to say about performing on the night:
"It was very special to go up on stage in front of some of the Warriors. For only my second time doing stand up, the crowd didn't disappoint, they were very welcoming and supportive, no better way to spend a birthday!
A massive thank you to the other comedians, Ro, Paul, Andrea, Sharon, Caroline, Dave, Aaron and Danis for sharing the stage and making us laugh!"
This was the first time the Warriors hosted a comedy fundraiser, and the turnout was fantastic. The room was full of both players and outside attendees, showing the benefit that new and creative fundraising ideas can bring to the club.
All in all, between ticket sales and the raffle, the Comedy Night raised €1,765 for the Warriors, supporting a wide range of the club’s activities.

Thank You
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported these events.
Special thanks to Ash Simon, Caio Polcheira, Fiona Larmon, Gary Gaughan, Maz Peltret, Ryan Reid, Shane Raftery, Sorcha Killian and Tabz Peterken, who secured an incredible range of raffle prizes, including signed sports memorabilia, concert and theatre tickets, restaurant and retail vouchers, family adventure experiences, hospitality packages and wellness experiences. Their efforts helped make the raffle a great success and contributed significantly to the event's fundraising total.
We would also like to thank the generous businesses and organisations that donated prizes: Axe Club Dublin, Balls.ie, Beyond the Trees Avondale, Eclective, GAA, Hot Press, Irish Independent, Irish Times, Leinster Rugby, Marlowe & Co, Mercantile Group, Oddballs, Queen Bee Salon, RTÉ, Sallynoggin Sauna, Skypark Outdoor Adventures, Smock Alley Theatre, The K Club and Trocadero Restaurant.
