Meet the Warriors – Ger Duff

ewrfcadminMeet the Warriors

Why did you join?

I joined the warriors to try and make friends with a bonus of improving my fitness. I had played Tag rugby in college and hear about the warriors through a friend of a friend. It seem like a good place to start

What does being a Warrior mean to you?

A warrior stands on the pitch with head held high and back straight, win lose or draw. We’re there for our teammates on and off the pitch

What have you learned/gained since joining the Warriors?

I had poor experiences with team sports growing up and was very nervous when I first joined. The team was so warm and welcoming which let me learn to love the sport. I’ve gained a plethora of new amazing friendships, a place in the LGBT+ community and a level of athleticism that i’ve not had in a very long time.

What has been your favourite moment/memory of being a Warrior?

Being awarded Man of the match for scoring my first try. The try was technically disallowed but its still counts!

Any advice for aspiring Warriors?

Don’t let the fear of the physicality put you off. I’m a surgeon and I can repair you. You won’t be the first warrior I’ve put back together and you wont be the last!
