When I moved into the city centre a few months ago, I promised myself that I would take up a hobby so that I wasn’t wasting the time I had previously spent commuting to and from work. I never really saw myself as strong enough or fit enough to play rugby, and the level of commitment required scared me, but a few of my friends talked me into coming to one or two trainings to try it out. I am extremely thankful they did because since the first training session I have enjoyed the sport and the craic immensely. I had known a few of the players before my first training session, but integrating with everyone was extremely easy. The camaraderie among the team is what I have enjoyed the most, we help each other reach our best with fitness, the technical aspect of the game and diet. I have gained some great new friends, and cemented friendships which already existed. If the first few months are anything to go by, I look forward to what the future brings, playing as a warriors.
